Paying on board with a credit card is not an option for me. What can I do?

If paying with a credit card on board is not an option, you may be able to pre-purchase convenient Air Canada Bistro vouchers online at any time up to one (1) hour before your eligible flight (provided you have not already checked in).

The voucher code appears on your boarding card and allows you to save up to 20% on light meals, snacks or alcoholic beverages when you redeem it during your flight.

Also, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages (coffee, tea, juice, milk or soft drinks) are always available on board our flights.

And remember that complimentary meal service is available for all passengers travelling in:

  • Our Business Class and Air Canada Signature Class cabins
  • International Economy Class, except on flights to/from Sun and Caribbean locations (Air Canada Bistro service is available on those flights).

As well, you can pre-order duty-free items for delivery directly to you at your seat on many international flights. When you order online, you can choose from a wider variety of products and are sure to get the items you really want.

My child is travelling alone without a credit card. What can I do?

If your child aged 8 to 17 is travelling as an unaccompanied minor on an Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight, or on an Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz that offers only Air Canada Bistro service, the price of a meal or hot snack is included in the service fee charged for the special care of your child.

If you've opted to forego the unaccompanied minor service for your child aged 12 to 17, you may be able to pre-purchase convenient Air Canada Bistro vouchers online at any time up to one (1) hour before your child's flight. You save up to 20% on your purchase and your child can redeem his or her voucher in flight for a meal or snack item.

Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages are always available on all our flights, and complimentary meal service is available for all passengers travelling in:

  • Our Business Class and Air Canada Signature Class cabins
  • International Economy Class, except on flights to/from Sun and Caribbean locations (Air Canada Bistro service is available on those flights).

How safe is it to pay on board with my credit card?

Our flight attendants record your credit card payments safely using secure (encrypted) handheld devices. Receipts are issued automatically for all Duty-free Boutique transactions, and are available upon request for Air Canada Bistro purchases.

I’m travelling on an international flight? In what currency will I be charged?

All credit card purchases made on board are charged in Canadian dollars. If you pay for your on-board purchases with a credit card issued outside of Canada, your bank may charge you a foreign merchant transaction fee at time of billing. Please contact your bank for details.
