Travelling to Colombia? Pay your reciprocity fee before you leave
January 13, 2026
If you have a trip to Colombia coming up, you can speed up your processing time with the immigration officer by paying your reciprocity fee in advance.
Simply go to the official website of the Colombian government and select the Canada-Nicaragua box located on the page to pay your fee online. Once you’ve completed your online payment, remember to take a screenshot of the voucher (with the reference number) to show to the officer of Migración Colombia when you enter the country.
The fee for Canadians is approximately CA$85-90 or the equivalent in Colombian pesos, per person, and is valid for a single entry into the country. Payments made at the airport are accepted with a credit card only.
All Canadian passport holders will be directed to a Canadian-dedicated immigration control line whether you have paid the reciprocity fee online or choose to pay on arrival using your credit card.
Note that the fee does not apply to Canadian citizens who:
- are older than 79 years or younger than 14 years
- hold a valid visa to enter Colombia
- are connecting through a Colombian airport to another country
- are headed to the archipelago of San Andres or Providencia
- hold a seaman book or diplomatic or special passport
Please ensure you also complete the Checkmig form prior to departing for Colombia.
