Fuel surcharge for international travel originating in Japan
Due to the continued record-high level of oil prices, Air Canada applies a fuel surcharge to the price of its airline tickets. The complete details of this fuel surcharge for all international travel originating and ticketed in Japan are detailed below.
Kindly note that the fuel surcharge is abolished whenever the two-month average price per barrel of Singapore Kerosene is under JPY6000.

For tickets originating in Japan and issued between April 1, 2026, and May 31, 2026 (inclusive)

Conditions
- The fuel surcharge on international tickets applies at a uniform rate for adult passengers, children and infants occupying a seat.
- The fuel surcharge does not apply to international tickets purchased for an infant who is not occupying a seat.
- The fuel surcharge is shown in the price breakdown on the trip review page before you complete your purchase. Look for the code YQ.
- When a refundable ticket is presented for refund, the full amount of the fuel surcharge shall be returned. The fuel surcharge shall not be returned for non-refundable tickets.
Amendment/Abolition
- The applicable fuel surcharge is based on the two-month average price of Singapore Kerosene and will be fixed for two months as indicated in the table below. The Singapore Kerosene price will be based on the Japanese Yen converted from USD using the average exchange rate in the same two-month period. In case of further fuel surcharge changes, Air Canada will apply to the government for approval in applicable countries. If the two-month average fuel price falls below JPY6,000, Air Canada will apply to the government for approval in applicable countries to abolish the fuel surcharge.
