Entry requirements for Canada have changed

March 28, 2024

The Canadian government has updated travel information for Mexican citizens travelling to Canada.

Mexican citizens who hold a valid US non-immigrant visa or have held a Canadian visa in the past 10 years and are travelling by air on a Mexican passport will be able to apply for an electronic travel authorization (eTA).

Those who do not meet these conditions will need to apply for a Canadian visitor visa.

If you currently have a reservation for travel to or from Mexico and would like to make alternate travel arrangements, Air Canada has implemented a policy that makes it possible for you to make voluntary changes to your itinerary if:

  • You purchased an Air Canada ticket no later than February 29, 2024, for travel between now and March 31, 2024.

If you are scheduled to travel during the affected period, you can reach out to us anytime at 800 461 0361 (or 1 800 361-5373 if yours is an Aeroplan flight reward) to change your flight, without penalty, to another date between now and April 30, 2024, subject to availability. Otherwise, any fare difference will apply. You can also store your ticket’s cash value through one of our credit options.

If you purchased your ticket with Air Canada Vacations, please contact them directly.
