Requesting eUpgrades

You can use your eUpgrades credits on any eligible Air Canada, Air Canada Express, and Air Canada Rouge itinerary or flight segment across our network which features a Business Class, Premium Economy or Premium Rouge cabin. To be able to complete an eUpgrade, make sure that your reservation has your Aeroplan number entered as your frequent flyer number.

How to request your eUpgrade

Whether you wish to upgrade your entire one-way itinerary, or choose to upgrade only certain flight segments, requesting an eUpgrade is easy and can be done at any time. Each flight segment has a specific number of advance upgrades permitted. Once your clearance window opens, if upgrade space is available, your upgrade will be confirmed. If no upgrade space is available, you will be waitlisted.

For reservations with more than two passengers, we strongly recommend that you request your upgrade prior to your day of travel or, at the latest, during check-in with an agent at the airport.

You can request your eUpgrade:

Through your eUpgrade account online or by contacting Air Canada Reservations.

When you check in online, on your mobile device, or at an airport kiosk.

With an agent at the airport.

At the departure gate on your day of travel.

How many eUpgrades credits are required?

The number of eUpgrade credits required, along with any applicable add-ons, can be reviewed here. This will vary based on a few factors:

eUpgrade credits and add-ons

As soon as you request your upgrade, the required eUpgrade credits are removed from your account. Please note:

Your eUpgrade credits must not expire prior to the date of the flight for which you wish to request an upgrade.

The credits with the shortest validity period will always be used first.

In some cases, an eUpgrade add-on may apply. An eUpgrade add-on is a supplementary payment in cash, which may be required depending upon your fare paid. Add-on rates apply per direction and per upgraded passenger. Add-ons include all applicable taxes.

Should an eUpgrade add-on apply, payment information must be provided when you request your upgrade, regardless of whether the upgrade clears in advance or on the day of departure at the airport. Only credit cards are accepted as a form of payment, and your credit card will only be charged if the upgrade is successful once the flight departs. You will then receive a receipt by email indicating the eUpgrade add-on payment status.

In cases where you are entitled to a refund, such as when your upgrade doesn’t clear, your eUpgrade credits will be returned to your eUpgrade account within 72 hours of the arrival of your last flight. If, after 72 hours, the credits have not been returned to your account, contact Air Canada Reservations for assistance, or fill out our online form to report an eUpgrade discrepancy.
