At the airport

Touchless airport experience

Check-in

We know how important your safety is every step of the way, which is why we are implementing touch-free airport experiences.

TouchFree Bag Check

Now at select airports, Air Canada check-in areas feature TouchFree Bag Check kiosks for domestic travel, with international travel beginning mid-July. You can automatically print your bag tags without physical contact. Simply check-in online, select the exact number of checked bags, and pay any applicable fees, to get your boarding pass in advance. At the airport, all you will need to do is scan your electronic or paper boarding pass at a TouchFree Bag Check kiosk to print all of your bag tags.

Once you’ve attached your bag tags, drop off your luggage at our TouchFree Bag Drop, all without physical contact.

Carry-on baggage: touchless verification and enforcement

In order to facilitate the boarding process and limit the need for physical interactions at the departure gate and on board, all customers will be required to comply with verification measures pre-security, or at the gate.

New technologies will be introduced later this summer at select airports* to automatically size and measure carry-on baggage for compliance, making the carry-on baggage policy verification process touchless.

*In the following cities: Toronto (Pearson), Montreal, and Ottawa.

Virtual queues

We’re introducing virtual queues for customer care needs. By scanning a QR code at the entrance of a queue, you will then receive a virtual ticket to your phone, followed by a notification when it is your turn to proceed to the counter.

Boarding

As a further safety measure, we have made several changes to our boarding process. By boarding less customers at the same time, as well as boarding the cabin from window to aisle, and from back to front, we will be streamlining onboard interactions during boarding.

We ask that you remain seated at your gate until your zone is called. Upon boarding, you will proceed to scan your own boarding pass. We will also be limiting usage of gates in direct adjacency whenever possible.

In addition, boarding gates will close 30 minutes prior to departure to ensure a more secure boarding process.

Priority and pre-boarding will remain available to eligible customers.

Lounges

We are actively preparing to reopen our lounge network by implementing biosafety measures, including: sanitization stations, electrostatic spraying, adjusted capacities, distanced layouts, pre-packaged foods, assisted bar services, and touchless washrooms.

Please check back soon for further details about the reopening of additional lounges.

Please note that other partner lounges may also be closed. We invite you to check directly with the operating carrier.

Connection services

Some connection services, such as terminal shuttles, may be temporarily suspended. Please refer to airport signs in order to make your connection in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any airport, or Air Canada representatives who will be happy to assist you.

BMW Chauffeur Service

Our BMW Chauffeur Service will remain temporarily suspended until further notice.

Air Canada Signature Class customers can enjoy complimentary BMW Chauffeur Service across the tarmac when connecting from a domestic to an international flight at Toronto Pearson.*

We're proud to offer this service to customers travelling in a premium cabin, and we plan to extend it to other eligible customers in the future.

* Air Canada Signature Class customers on an Air Canada-operated flight (to Europe, Asia and South America) originally booked and ticketed in the following classes will be eligible for the Air Canada Valet Service, powered by BMW: J, C, D, Z and P. Certain restrictions may apply. Eligibility criteria are subject to change without notice.
