Klaus Goersch

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Klaus Goersch was appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer in October 2012 with overall responsibility for all aspects of safe, reliable and efficient operations throughout Air Canada’s worldwide network. In this role, Klaus has oversight for Flight Operations, Systems Operations Control, Maintenance, Engineering, Airports, Environment and Corporate Safety, Corporate Security, In-Flight Service, Call Centres and Customer Relations.

Prior to joining Air Canada, Klaus was Executive Vice President of Operations and Customer Service for AirTran Airways. He was a member of the team that founded that airline and grew it to one of the top low-cost airlines in the United States. With more than 25 years of airline experience in both senior management and as a qualified commercial pilot, Klaus’ experience includes leading a team ranked best in operational performance among US major airlines, introducing a new fleet type into airline service and overseeing the operational merger of two US national airlines to create the world’s largest low cost carrier.

Klaus holds a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics and a Masters of Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
