Until at least January 31, 2022, the Government of Canada is implementing enhanced border measures for all travellers who have been in the following countries within the last 14 days before arriving in Canada. They include Botswana, Egypt, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Foreign nationals
Foreign nationals who have travelled in any of these countries within the previous 14 days will not be permitted entry into Canada.
Canadian citizens, permanent residents and persons registered under the Indian Act
Within 72 hours of their flight to Canada’s departure time, travellers must obtain a valid negative COVID-19 molecular test in a third country (i.e., a country other than one of the seven African countries listed above) before continuing their journey to Canada.
Regardless of vaccination status or having had a previous history of testing positive for COVID-19, Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and people registered under the Indian Act who have been in one of the seven countries mentioned above in the previous 14 days will be subject to enhanced testing, screening, and quarantine measures upon return to Canada.
Customers will also be subject to immediate testing upon arrival in Canada (regardless of vaccination status or having had a previous history of testing positive for COVID-19) including a test on day 8 after arrival and quarantine for 14 days. Public health officials will provide instructions to travellers upon arrival.
Customers will not be permitted onward travel until their quarantine plan has been approved and they have received a negative arrival test result.
