Walking the Talk on Employee Well-being

UBY Event 2025 - 2

At Air Canada, the well-being of our employees goes beyond simply being an HR program — we’ve made it fundamental to our culture.

Dr. Jim Chung is Air Canada’s Chief Medical Officer, and he oversees all medical and wellness programs globally.

“One of the ways that we work to support and promote employee wellness is through a program we call Unlock the Best in You, known as “UBY” which is a comprehensive wellness approach. This year, we held a UBY Summit, which brought employees together from across the company for an inspiring experience centred on mental, physical, and financial wellness. Through expert-led sessions, interactive workshops and meaningful discussions, information and tools were shared, fostering a supportive workplace, where everyone could learn what resources are available to enable people to be their best.”

Air Canada’s approach to wellness is also to provide opportunities for employees to hear and learn from others, and we were honoured to welcome two inspirational keynote speakers:

Danielle Campo McLeod – Award-winning keynote speaker, mental health expert and Paralympian, Danielle shared powerful insights on resilience, drawing from her own journey of overcoming adversity and unlocking personal success.

Joe Roberts – Once homeless and struggling with mental health challenges, Joe transformed his life to become a successful entrepreneur and speaker. His incredible journey from skid row to CEO inspired employees with lessons on perseverance and the power of mindset.

As part of Air Canada’s ongoing commitment to well-being, employees worldwide have access to an award-winning wellness portal, offering resources to support their mental, physical, and financial health. Additionally, all employees have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), while Canada-based employees benefit from unlimited counselling and telemedicine services, ensuring support is always within reach.

Air Canada is proud to be an industry leader in workplace wellness, having been recognized for our innovative and impactful approach to employee well-being.

“Wellness is a journey. It is important for everyone, and we are proud of the holistic approach we are taking,” concluded Dr. Chung.
