IEnvA Certification
Our IEnvA Certification
The IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) certification program is specific for airlines and demonstrates equivalency to the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems standard. In September 2020, Air Canada became the first North American airline to be IEnvA Stage 2 and Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) certified.
The IEnvA program covers the flight operations of Air Canada and its wholly owned subsidiaries (Air Canada Vacations, Air Canada Rouge and Aeroplan). The scope includes our flight operations to all destinations we serve and our line maintenance, cargo and ground operations in Canada. Office buildings and facilities in Canada and London, UK in which Air Canada conducts its corporate activities complete the EMS scope. Within this scope, the IWT certification covers Air Canada’s cargo operations.
Our Environmental Policy expresses Air Canada’s aspiration to be a sustainability leader within our industry. The environmental policy is the foundation of Air Canada’s environmental management system and is consistent with the requirements of IEnvA. It outlines the steps we are taking and the activities we are performing to protect the environment.
