Transport Canada Vaccine Requirements – Canadian Domestic Air Travel and Outbound Flights

June 14, 2022

The Government of Canada announced that as of Monday, June 20, 2022, travellers boarding a flight in Canada will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination.

This change applies to flights within Canada and on outgoing international flights.

Other countries still have mandatory vaccination policies in place. Canadians travelling internationally by air must continue to follow the vaccination and quarantine requirements of their arrival destination. Find out your destination vaccination requirements.

Flying to Canada?

It is mandatory for all travellers arriving in Canada from other countries to use ArriveCAN to submit their contact information, travel details, vaccination status and quarantine plan 72 hours before arriving in Canada.

If you are an unvaccinated traveller who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you will not be permitted to enter Canada. There are very few exceptions to this rule. More information can be found on the Transport Canada website.

There are no changes to the pre-flight testing, arrival testing and quarantine requirements for unvaccinated travellers flying to Canada from abroad. Unvaccinated travellers – whether they are Canadian citizens or foreign nationals exempt from vaccine requirements – will still be required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Canada. They will be permitted to continue their travel by air domestically to their pre-determined quarantine location, unless specifically directed by a public health official to quarantine immediately.
