A Lufthansa ground staff labour disruption at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) and Munich International Airport (MUC) is expected from Wednesday, July 27 to Thursday, July 28, 2022. This disruption is outside our control and may cause potential departure or arrival delays. Please note that this strike action timing may be adjusted without prior notice.
For customers travelling to or from Frankfurt or Munich, we recommend the following:
- Customers departing from either Frankfurt or Munich should arrive at the airport at least 4 hours in advance.
- Customers arriving in either Frankfurt or Munich may be required to stay on the plane until travellers can be accommodated by limited ground staff.
- Customers with connecting flights operated by our Star Alliance partner Lufthansa have a high likelihood of their flights being cancelled or rebooked with potential delays of more than 24 hours. If a connection with Lufthansa is to an international destination, travellers may not be able to continue onwards. In this instance, travellers should be aware of German visa requirements for entry, as they may not be able to leave the airport to book a hotel for the night. Customers are advised to check Lufthansa.com for more information.
- Customers connecting in Frankfurt or Munich to another destination may experience arrival delays and may miss connecting flights. Connecting customers should consider rebooking connecting flights from these airports to provide more buffer time if they are able.
We’re working hard to mitigate any delays this disruption may cause. Fortunately, we do not expect our Air Canada ground handling operations to be affected, and the airports will deploy additional care teams who will be happy to guide customers should they require assistance.
