Checked Baggage
When you travel on an Air Canada or Air Canada rouge flight or on an Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz, Sky Regional, Air Georgian or Exploits Valley Air, your complimentary baggage allowance is determined by your fare, destination, date of travel and frequent flyer status.
The checked baggage allowance displayed below applies to Air Canada, Air Canada rouge and Air Canada Express flights. When an itinerary includes travel with one of our codeshare partners or with another airline, the baggage policies of the other carrier may apply.

Shipments from or via the U.S.
Because passengers are considered unknown shippers for cargo purposes, Air Canada Cargo can ship only cats and dogs from or via the U.S. For any other type of shipment, please contact another shipping company.
Itineraries with an origin/ultimate destination in the U.S.
An ultimate destination in the U.S. is where the furthest ticketed point from origin is in the U.S., including where the furthest point is a stopover in the U.S. of 24 hours or more. See example
Where the itinerary includes an origin or ultimate destination in the U.S., the first marketing carrier will determine the baggage allowance and fee rules applicable to your itinerary and may opt to apply its own baggage rules or the rules of the most significant marketing carrier.
In itineraries where Air Canada is the first marketing carrier, Air Canadas baggage rules will apply. The carrier whose baggage rules will apply will be identified on your itinerary-receipt when booking on aircanada.com.

Codeshare Flights
Passengers who purchase travel on a codeshare flight or a flight with another airline may be subject to that other carrier's baggage policy and other rules.
Please note that if your baggage cannot be through-checked (i.e. if you must claim your baggage and recheck it with another airline for your onward connection), your baggage allowance may be subject to the rules of the airlines with which you check your baggage.

When 2 free checked bags are allowed:

Important Information
Passengers whose travel involves connecting flights on other carriers should enquire at the airport check-in counter whether they may check their bags to their final destination, or whether they must claim their luggage at the connection point and check it in again when connecting to another flight.
