Refund Services

The following information provides answers to the most commonly asked refund-related questions.

About my ticket

For how long is my ticket valid?

The majority of tickets are valid for one year from date of original issue. Please verify the validity of your ticket with your travel agent or at an Air Canada ticket office.

Can I give my ticket to someone else?

Tickets are non-transferable and can only be used by the person whose name appears on the ticket.

Is my ticket refundable?

You should always be aware, at the time of purchase, if your ticket is refundable and under what conditions. Many tickets (e.g. many promotional or seat sale tickets) are non-refundable, while others may be subject to a refund penalty which limits their refundable value. In most cases, the words “non-refundable” or “non-ref” are clearly printed on the ticket and ticket receipt.

In the case of a refundable ticket, only the unused portion of the ticket is refundable.

About my refund

How can I get a refund for the unused portion of my refundable ticket?

It is important to always present your refund request via the original point of purchase:

  • The travel agency which issued your ticket will process refunds for refundable paper and electronic tickets.
  • If your ticket was purchased at aircanada.com, you can cancel your booking online and obtain a refund, if applicable.
  • Agents at Air Canada airport or city sales offices can process refunds on all refundable tickets.

If your travel has not commenced, contact your travel agent or Air Canada Reservations for assistance.

You may forward your request and any original unused refundable Air Canada paper ticket or Electronic Ticket Itinerary / Receipt:
