Preferred Seats FAQs
Preferred seats provide you with the added comfort of extra legroom and are mainly located in exit rows of the Economy cabin.
Preferred seats are available on most routes operated by Air Canada and Jazz, subject to availability. Preferred seats are not available on codeshare flights and flights operated by other airlines.
For bookings made at aircanada.com, Preferred seats can be purchased at time of booking or at any time prior to check-in by retrieving your booking and choosing the Select Seats option. In addition, Preferred seats can be purchased by calling Air Canada Reservations.
No. If you require special seating because of a justified medical condition or physical disability and you are given a Preferred seat, Preferred seat charges will not apply. To request special seating, please call Air Canada Reservations and ask for the MEDA desk.
Yes. Preferred seat charges will be included as a separate item on your itinerary receipt.
No. This option is not available at this time. Preferred seats are available to Flight Pass customers by calling Air Canada Reservations only.
No. For the moment, Preferred seats are not available for purchase at time of check-in or at Air Canada airport ticket counters.
Yes. If you purchase a Preferred seat but are reassigned by Air Canada to another seat prior to check-in, an automatic refund will be processed for your Preferred seat charges. If you are reassigned to another seat at the airport or on board the plane, we ask that you contact Customer Relations to request your refund.
Yes. If you have an Aeroplan flight reward booking, call Air Canada Reservations to purchase your Preferred seat. Preferred seats for Aeroplan flight rewards are complimentary for Air Canada Super Elite members and charges apply for all other customers.

Yes, your travel agency can request a Preferred seat online if the booking was made through our travel agency website or by calling Air Canada Reservations.
