Web check-in is simply the best way to check in for your flight! You can check in from your computer, as early as 24 hours before your flight*, and print your boarding pass.

Don't have a printer? No problem. After completing your web check-in online, you may print your boarding pass at the airport using a Self-Service Check-in Kiosk, or choose to receive an Electronic Boarding Pass directly on your mobile device.

You can check in:
At any time within the 24-hour period* prior to departure of all your flights; and
  • at least 30 minutes prior to departure for flights within Canada
  • at least 1 hour prior to departure for flights between Canada and the USA
  • at least 1 hour prior to departure for flights between Canada and other countries
  • if you have a connecting flight, up to 24 hours prior to departure time of your final connecting flight
* Always use airport local time of the last flight in your itinerary to determine when you can check in.

No. Even if you do not have a printer, you can enjoy the convenience of completing your web check-in online. You can then:
When starting Web Check-in, please have the following information on hand:
  • The credit card* used to purchase your electronic ticket, or
  • The Aeroplan number included in your reservation, or
  • The booking reference (either a six-digit Air Canada reference number or the booking reference number provided by your travel agent),
and
  • Your passport and any other required travel documents, including your address in the U.S. (if travelling to the United States)

You can use Web Check-in to:
  • Select a seat.
  • Indicate the number of bags you wish to check.
  • Pay applicable additional checked baggage charges (a discount may apply).
  • Stand by for an earlier flight (if eligible).
  • Stand by for upgrades (if eligible).
  • Make a same-day change to your flight (if eligible).
  • Add, renew or change a frequent flyer number (i.e. Aeroplan).
  • Cancel your check-in* (you may cancel your check-in within the same time frame that Web/Mobile Check-in is available).
  • Receive an electronic boarding pass on your mobile device. Learn more
  • Purchase last minute upgrade (if eligible) - NEW
*You may not cancel your check-in online if baggage tags have already been issued.

Depending on itinerary, booking class and fare options, the following 3 options may also be offered during Web Check-in:
Change flight: Web Check-in allows eligible passengers to make a same-day change to their flight when checking in on the exact day of the flight. The same-day change option is subject to seat availability and time of day at check-in. Fees may apply. Learn more about our fare options.
Standby early Eligible passengers and eligible frequent flyer cardholders can select the Early Standby option during Web check-in to indicate that they are interested in traveling on an earlier flight if one is available. Learn more about our fare options.
Upgrade: You may request an upgrade to Executive Class if the upgrade option is presented during Web Check-in and you have a certificate. All upgrades are subject to seat availability in Executive Class and are confirmed at the boarding gate. Please have your valid upgrade certificate handy, as you may be required to present it at the Baggage Drop-off counter (if you have bags to check) or at the boarding gate. On the Web Check-in home page, enter required information:
  • First and last name
  • Departure city
  • Indentification number such as your booking reference, credit card* or Aeroplan number
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Web Check-in process
Print your boarding pass

Choose to receive it directly on your mobile device
or
Wait to print it once you arrive at the airport by using a Self-Service Check-in Kiosk or by seeing an Air Canada agent at the check-in counter

* Customers may now take advantage of self-tagging by printing and attaching their own baggage tags, and carrying their baggage to the Baggage Drop-off. This is a new service offered by Air Canada at the following airports: Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Paris and London.

NOTE: The Web Check-in process will issue a boarding pass that can be printed on a home or office printer. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you must print it once you arrive at the airport by using a Self-Service Check-in Kiosk or by seeing an Air Canada agent at the check-in counter.
Web Check-in at aircanada.com is offered for passengers flying:
  • On Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz flights only (flights operated by other airlines are not eligible);
  • For connecting flights: your first flight must be operated by Air Canada or Air Canada Jazz
  • With or without baggage
Please note: You must check in through an agent at the Air Canada check-in counter if your reservation contains a special request such as:
  • Wheelchair
  • Medical assistance
  • Unaccompanied minor assistance
Within the 24-hour period prior to departure of all your flights; and
  • at least 30 minutes prior to departure for flights within Canada
  • at least 60 minutes prior to departure for flights between Canada and other countries (including the USA)
  • if you have a connecting flight, up to 24 hours prior to departure time of your final connecting flight

NOTE: All baggage must be deposited at the baggage drop off counter before the check-in deadline for your flight. No baggage will be accepted at the baggage drop off counter after the check-in deadline. See check-in and boarding gate deadlines as they apply to your flight.

Failure to respect these deadlines may result in the reassignment of any pre-reserved seats, the cancellation of reservations, and/or ineligibility for denied boarding compensation.

*You may complete Web Check-in from this city. However, security regulations require that your boarding pass be issued at the airport. You will be provided with a check-in confirmation at the end of the transaction.
You may check-in up to 9 passengers at a time. For instance, if the group consists of 27 passengers, the group representative will need to complete 3 check-in sessions containing 9 passengers each. Be sure you have all of the following information and identification on hand:
  • The credit card* used to purchase the tickets, or
  • The Aeroplan number included in the reservation, or
  • The booking reference number (either a six-digit Air Canada reference number or the booking reference number provided by your travel agent),
and
  • The first and last names of all passengers (entered individually for security purposes)
  • The total number of bags to check for each passenger
  • APIS information for travel to Canada, to/from the U.S. and other countries:
    • Gender, date of birth, nationality and country of residence
    • Travel document or passport number, country of issue and expiry date
    • Destination address in the U.S. (if applicable)
