Air Canada now offers the Verified by Visa service

Air Canada is pleased to announce that starting March 2006, aircanada.com will have the Verified by Visa (VbV) service.  Through the use of a personal password, the VbV service ensures your personal VISA® card can only be used by you to make online purchases at participating merchants like Air Canada. To help you better understand how the Verified by Visa service works, here are answers to some "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) provided by Visa Canada.

Verified by Visa - FAQs

What is Verified by Visa?

A Verified by Visa personal password you choose provides an extra level of protection against unauthorized use of your VISA card when you shop at participating online merchants.

How much does Verified by Visa cost?
Nothing. Verified by Visa is absolutely FREE to VISA cardholders.

Do I need a new card to use Verified by Visa?
No. Verified by Visa works with your existing personal VISA card.

I'm not an Internet expert. How easy is Verified by Visa to use?
Simply enter your card information during checkout as you normally would. Your VISA Card Issuer will then ask for your personal Verified by Visa password. Once your password has been confirmed by your VISA Card Issuer, your transaction will go forward for completion.

How can I find out when Verified by Visa will be available for my VISA card?
If your Card Issuer is not listed on www.visa.ca/verified please contact them directly.

How is my personal information protected when I sign up my VISA card on the Verified by Visa Web site?
You are actually signing up on your Card Issuer's web site and are therefore subject to their privacy and security policies. Please refer to your Card Issuer's privacy statement for additional details.
