NAME CORRECTION POLICY

This policy applies to unused 014 tickets to correct misspelled first and/or last names, or to match legal travel document, following a legal name change1 due to marital status or gender change. Correction to middle name is not required.

Name corrections for group bookings are per the Group Travel policy.

014 tickets that include Air Canada2 marketed and operated flights, and Atlantic Joint Venture3 worldwide flights

Name corrections are processed by an Air Canada Contact Centre agent, on the original booking and without additional collection, for tickets that include:

  • Air Canada marketed and operated flights
  • Flights marketed and/or operated by AC, UA, LH, VL, CL, LX, OS, SN, 4Y and EN worldwide flights.

No other airlines can be included on the PNR.


GDS Edifact

  1. Enter in your PNR OSI AC NCC + the correct name
  2. Within 3 business days of departure, request a complimentary correction at namecorrectiondenom@aircanada.ca. In the subject line, enter:
    • AC only, and the departure date; or
    • AJV and the departure date
  3. An Air Canada agent will correct the name and email you the ticket once reissued.

Direct Channel
Call the Customer Contact Centre anytime to request complimentary name correction on your existing Air Canada booking. An agent will reissue the ticket.

014 tickets that include Air Canada and other airlines flights

This includes AC flights, and flights marketed and/or operated by other airlines, except for UA, LH, VL, CL, LX, OS, SN, 4Y and EN.

GDS Edifact

  1. Make a new booking with the correct name, subject to availability and applicable fare. The ticket must be plated 014.
  2. Retrieve the original PNR, cancel the space and enter in the Refund Waiver Code field of the GDS, the refund waiver code NCC + the last 10 digits of the new ticket which will be used to travel.
  3. Process the refund of the original ticket.

If the original ticket is refunded incorrectly, or without the refund waiver code, a Debit Memo of a minimum of $50.00 CA/US4 plus tax will be issued.

Direct Channel

  1. Make a new Air Canada booking with the correct name, subject to the applicable fare and issue the 014 ticket.
  2. Call the Customer Contact Centre; an agent will cancel the original booking and process the refund.
1 Legal name change applies when names were legally changed due to marriage, divorce, adoption and gender transition.   
   Air Canada requires a copy of the passport and one of these supporting documents:  Divorce decree/certificate, Government-issued legal name change filing, marriage certificate.
   Please submit via email to namecorrectiondenom@aircanada.ca and keep copies of all supporting documentation. Auditors can request proof at any time.
