24-Hour Refund Policy

When making a new booking, Air Canada allows a refund without penalty to unused 014 tickets and associated EMDs, within 24 hours of ticket issuance.  Example of a ticket issued June 25 at 15:10 EST can be cancelled without penalty until June 26, 15h:09 EST.  

With tickets purchased for same day travel, cancellation must be done at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure time of the outbound flight.
This policy applies to:

  • GDS Edifact bookings
  • Corporate contracts and Small and Medium Business ‘SMB’ bookings
  • aircanada.com/agents bookings
  • All fares, including net fares.

This policy does not apply to:

  • Ancillary products purchased after the time of initial booking
  • Customers who no showed a flight
  • Group tickets
  • Flight Pass extension fees
  • Partially used tickets
  • Tickets with coupon status other than OPEN
  • Other airlines tickets

Refund Process

GDS bookings

Process a refund within 24 hours of ticket issuance; enter refund waiver code 24HRRULE in your GDS refund waiver code field.

For weekends and statutory holidays, Air Canada permits a refund the next business day. 

Refunds outside of these parameters are per fare rules.

Direct bookings
Cancel your bookings via My Booking within 24 hours of ticket issuance. Waiver codes are not required for direct channel bookings.

Refunds are per fare rule when processed beyond 24 hours of ticket issuance.
