Our operations have restarted and we’re getting ready to welcome you back on board. A full ramp-up will take time, and we promise to keep you informed about any changes to your travel plans. Please arrive at the airport no earlier than 3 hours before departure. Further down on this page, you’ll also find more information on our rebooking policies, cancellations, and questions you may have.
Our Operations Update
- Today August 20th, we are aiming to operate 70% of our operation. We will continue to update our customers here, as well as by text message and email.
- Given the high volume of calls we’re receiving, we encourage affected customers to use the rebooking tools in the Air Canada Mobile app or online.
- Our teams are working around the clock behind the scenes to get customers on their way, collaborating with partner airlines worldwide to secure additional capacity and more rebooking options.
- We appreciate your continued patience as we work through the impacts of this labour disruption. We know this has impacted our customers, their families, and Canada. We look forward to welcoming back our award-winning Flight Attendants and our customers on board.

Flexible rebooking policy and cancellations
Change your flight to another Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight
- For travel between August 20 and September 30, 2025, if you’d now like to travel sooner, you can change your flight free of charge to another Air Canada flight on any date between August 20 and August 24, 2025.
- For travel between August 15 and August 22, 2025, you can move your flight to another Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight, for travel between August 23, 2025, and September 30, 2025, in the same cabin for free, provided you do so at least two hours prior to your original flight date and time by modifying your itinerary.
Book on another airline
If you prefer to book your own alternative transportation, you may be eligible exceptionally, due to the significant impact of the labour disruption, to reimbursement of a reasonable fare on another airlineExternal site which may not meet accessibility guidelines and/or language preferences. within 5 days of your original departure date, if:
- you had an Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight scheduled to depart between August 15 and 23 that was cancelled, and
- you received an email from Air Canada stating we were unable to rebook you, or you were offered alternative flight options that depart more than 5 days from your original departure
- you choose a flight in the same or lower cabin to your original flight
- your flights are between the same origin & destination (including sister cities) with the same named customers. You can change connecting points or add/remove connections, as long as you choose a continuous journey.
- you can also claim for alternate transportation options to get you between your original origin and destination (bus, ferry, car etc.)
- you must have booked the most reasonable and economical option(s) with your alternative travel, and ensuring that you reach your destination as soon as possible
If you prefer to cancel your ticket:
- You can request a refund for the unused portion of your ticket or hold the value of your ticket in your AC Wallet as a Future Travel Credit , for travel dates between August 15 and August 21, 2025.
Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz and PAL airlines continue to operate as scheduled.

How will I receive updates about my itinerary?
We’ll notify you via email and text message if there is a change to your flight’s scheduled departure time or any other changes to your itinerary. We will use the contact information you shared with us at the time of your booking. To make sure your contact information is up to date, you can check your booking confirmation, retrieve your booking or select the “Trips” tab in the Air Canada mobile app.
If you booked your own travel and you want to make sure you didn’t miss a notification, take the time to check your junk email folder and your mobile provider’s message settings.
You can also check the status of your flight or download the Air Canada mobile app for up-to-date information.
If you’ve already started your journey
If there is a change to your itinerary, we will explore all options to keep you travelling, including rebooking with other airlines on your behalf.
Air Canada Vacations
If you purchased your ticket with Air Canada Vacations and have questions about your vacation package, please reach out to them directly.
Before you head to the airport:
- Make sure you have a confirmed booking on another airline
- Check the status of your flight online or via the Air Canada mobile app.
If your itinerary is confirmed, please arrive at the airport no earlier than:
- 2 hours before departure for domestic flights
- 3 hours before departure for international flights
Change your flight to another Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight
- For travel between August 20 and September 30, 2025, if you’d now like to travel sooner, you can change your flight free of charge to another Air Canada flight on any date between August 20 and August 24, 2025.

Changing back to your original flight
If you changed your flight and the disruption ends, you’ll be able to change your flight back to your original booked itinerary on a one-time basis in the same cabin (subject to availability), without a fee.
Will my flight be rebooked automatically?
If your flight is cancelled because of a labour disruption, we will work to rebook you, free of charge, on the next available flight to your destination operated by any carrier, as required by Air Passenger Protection Regulations.
Our automated rebooking system looks for seats for up to three days after your cancelled flight, including on other domestic and international airlines. This process may take some time, so please give us the opportunity to look for the best available options for you.
If you prefer to rebook your own travel
- You can retrieve your booking to search for alternative options.
- We recommend checking back often for your preferred travel dates, as availability can change quickly.
If you were rebooked and you don’t like your new flight
- You can search for and choose a new flight. Simply retrieve your booking online or use your Air Canada mobile app.
- Cancel your booking for a refund or travel credit.
Please note that our airport and Contact Centre agents are unlikely to have access to different availability than what you can see on our site.
If we are not able to rebook you
Seats are very limited, and we may not be able to rebook your flight in the short term. If this happens, you can:
- Cancel your booking online or by contacting your travel agent (or online travel agency). If your travel is disrupted, you have the option to receive a refund for the unused portion of your ticket.
- Postpone your trip. If your travel dates are flexible, we kindly ask that you allow us the time to process urgent travel needs over the next week, then contact us to rebook your trip.
Change your flight to another Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge flight
- For travel between August 20 and September 30, 2025, if you’d now like to travel sooner, you can change your flight free of charge to another Air Canada flight on any date between August 20 and August 24, 2025.

Changing back to your original flight
If you changed your flight and the disruption ends, you’ll be able to change your flight back to your original booked itinerary on a one-time basis in the same cabin (subject to availability), without a fee.
My flight was cancelled. What should I do?
If your flight is cancelled, we’ll notify you via email and/or text message before your flight’s departure, using the contact information provided to us when you completed your booking.
We will work to rebook you on the first available flight, exploring options with over 120 international and domestic carriers. As we are in peak summer travel season, we know that space will still be very limited. If your travel is disrupted, you can always choose a refund.
If you do not receive these notifications directly, check with the person who booked your flight.
If you booked through your travel agent or online travel agency, please contact them directly – as our partners in your travel journey, they will be well equipped to serve you through this disruption. Alternatively, you can wait for an Air Canada agent to contact you.
If only your departure flight was cancelled
Your return flight is not automatically cancelled in case you reach your destination. If you prefer, you can cancel your booking for your return segment with no cancellation fees.
You can check the status of your return flight online or on your Air Canada mobile app.
If you booked through your travel agent or online travel agency, please contact them directly – as our partners in your travel journey, they will be well equipped to serve you through this disruption.
Refunds for partial tickets
If your flight is cancelled by Air Canada, you can request a refund for the unused portion of your ticket by modifying your itinerary.

If you booked an Air Canada flight on/before August 15, 2025, for travel between August 18 and August 21, 2025:
- You can cancel your booking for a refund of the unused portion of your ticket, regardless of fare type.
- Alternatively, you can choose to receive the value of your ticket in your AC Wallet or as a Future Travel Credit to use on your next Air Canada booking.
For all other travel dates, you can cancel your ticket.
- If you purchased a refundable fare, you'll receive a full refund. Depending on the type of ticket purchased, a cancellation fee may apply.
- If you purchased using Aeroplan points, you can cancel your flight and redeposit the points into your account. Depending on the type of ticket purchased, a cancellation fee may apply.
- If you purchased a non-refundable fare, you may cancel your itinerary and receive the unused value of your ticket in your AC Wallet or as a Future Travel Credit to use on your next Air Canada booking.
- If you booked your trip through another airline and it involves a cancelled Air Canada flight, you’ll need to contact the airline that issued your ticket for any refund requests.
How do I use my AC Wallet or future travel credit when I’m ready to do so?
When you’re ready to use your credit for future travel:
- Contact us directly at 1-888-247-2262 (for international and other numbers)
- Reach out to your travel agent*
- Meet with an Air Canada ticketing agent (where available)
Make sure you have your Future Travel Credit number handy at the time of booking.
Note: When you redeem your Future Travel Credit, the fare rules (e.g., change fees) of the original fare/booking still apply. The taxes will be based on the destination of the new booking.
* If your Future Travel Credit was issued by your travel agent.
To use the credits in your AC Wallet:
When you’re ready to book a flight* for yourself or someone else, or purchase Air Canada travel options** online or on the Air Canada mobile app, you will be offered the option to apply all or a portion of your AC Wallet on the payment page.
Just make sure you’re signed in to your Aeroplan account when making a booking to see AC Wallet as a payment option.
* AC Wallet credits cannot be used to cover the cash portion of an Aeroplan flight reward.
** AC Wallet credits cannot be used to purchase services offered by our partners, such as travel insurance, Cancel for Any Reason, or participation in the Leave Less Travel Program.

You booked Business Class on Air Canada but were rebooked and travelled in Premium Economy/Economy Class on another Air Canada flight
- If Air Canada rebooked you on another Air Canada flight and you travelled in a lower cabin class on your new flight, you will receive a refund for your fare difference. We will automatically process the fare refund on your behalf.
- If you rebooked yourself on a flight with another airline in a different cabin class than your original Air Canada booking, you will only be eligible for a refund for your cancelled Air Canada flight.
- If you rebooked yourself on a flight with another airline and you travelled in a lower cabin class than what you booked, please reach out to the airline operating your flight for fare difference refund requests.
- If you choose to no longer travel, you may cancel your ticket for a full refund.
You booked Business Class on Air Canada but flew another airline in Economy Class
- If Air Canada rebooked you on another Air Canada flight and you travelled in a lower cabin class on your new flight, you will receive a refund for your fare difference. We will automatically process the fare refund on your behalf.
- If you rebooked yourself on a flight with another airline in a different cabin class than your original Air Canada booking, you will only be eligible for a refund for your cancelled Air Canada flight.
- If you rebooked yourself on a flight with another airline and you travelled in a lower cabin class than what you booked, please reach out to the airline operating your flight for fare difference refund requests.
While we do not cover hotel stays or meal expenses, or other non-transportation related expenses We may cover certain alternative transportation expenses.
You may be able to claim some of these other costs by contacting your travel insurance provider. If you have travel insurance with your credit card provider, please reach out to them for more information.

Your flight was cancelled, and you requested a refund
If you did not travel, you will not accumulate any Aeroplan points or earn Status Qualifying Miles, Segments, or Dollars.
Your Aeroplan Flight Reward was cancelled
If your Aeroplan Flight Reward was cancelled, your Aeroplan points are refunded automatically within 24 hours.
You originally purchased a Business Class ticket and modified your flight to Premium Economy
You will earn Aeroplan points and Status Qualifying Miles, Segments, and Dollars based on the Premium Economy fare rules.
You were rebooked and travelled on another airline.
If your original Air Canada flight was eligible for Aeroplan points and Status Qualifying Miles, Segments, or Dollars, we will credit you automatically, though this may come through in a separate adjustment within 4-6 weeks of completing your travel. If you do not receive the adjustment within this timeframe, please visit ‘Request Missing Points’ and enter your flight details:
- For rebookings on Star Alliance carriers: enter the flight details as per your boarding pass
- For rebookings on non-Star Alliance carriers: enter the flight details as per your original Air Canada ticket
Transferring eUpgrades to new bookings
While we will always attempt to maintain the status of your eUpgrade on your new journey, this may not always be possible. In the event an eUpgrade is lost and your new flight is operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express, you will be able to re-request an eUpgrade online, through our Contact Centre or with an Air Canada agent at the airport. Note that all eUpgrades will only be confirmed at the gate, if space is available, for flights operating during the disruption period.
For rebookings where the flight is operated by another airline, the eUpgrade will be cancelled and you will be accommodated in the cabin that you originally purchased. Credits will be automatically refunded to your account within 96 hours of the eUpgrade cancellation.
Using eUpgrades on Air Canada-operated flights during this period
You can continue to request eUpgrades on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and Air Canada Express-operated flights during this period. eUpgrade credits cannot be used on flights operated by another airline.
