In an effort to simplify and streamline the re-protection process for your customers, we have updated our previously issued change fee waiver policy for future travel.
In addition, we have also created a new change fee waiver policy for existing bookings, giving your customers more flexibility to plan their travel.
As these two new policies are more accommodating for most of our customers, all previously issued goodwill policies have been cancelled. If you are contacted by a customer wishing to adjust their travel plans.
UPDATE: Change fee waiver for future bookings
If your customer purchases a ticket between March 4 and March 31, 2020, Air Canada will allow them to make a one-time change to their flight without incurring a change fee up to 24 hours before the departing flight. Customers may also cancel their flight and apply any unused value of the ticket toward the purchase of a new ticket provided the cancellation is made up to 24 hours before the departing flight. In both cases, any fare difference will apply, any residual value resulting from a lower fare will be lost and all travel must be completed by December 31, 2020.
The one-time change fee waiver applies to:
014 ticket stock
All fare types, including Groups, published fares and tickets with tour codes
All points-of-sale
New travel must be completed by December 31, 2020
Any refunds remain as per fare rules
For added convenience, we have modified our fare rules to set the change fee at $0, whereby the change fee is automatically waived. If the fee is not automatically waived for a qualifying ticket, please use ticket endorsement code CHNGFEE20.

Air Canada Vacations and Aeroplan bookings
The one-time change fee waiver also applies to Aeroplan Flight Reward bookings. Please contact Aeroplan directly if changes are required to the booking.
Air Canada Vacations is offering its CareFlex travel protection plan for free, on new bookings made between March 5 and March 31, 2020.
Air Canada Vacations is also waiving change fees for all vacation packages purchased before March 4, 2020, with original travel dates up to April 30, 2020. Travellers can make one free change or cancel their booking to apply the value to a new trip with alternate travel dates. Travel must be completed by December 31, 2020.
