AC Secure

Adding security to the things you value…

While we consider all cargo precious, some items are more highly valued and require unique handling. AC Secure is designed specifically to ensure the safe and secure transportation of goods with a known value of C/US$1,000/kg or more, or when a shipper purchases insurance in the same amount per kilogram, regardless of the commodity.

Defining high-value shipments:

The AC Secure service is designed for:
  • Shipments with a known value of over $1000 CAD/USD per kg (or equivalent in local currency at the country of origin) or
  • Commodities for which the shipper purchases insurance over $1000 CAD/USD per kg (or equivalent in local currency at the country of origin), regardless of the actual value of the commodity
  • Shipments of the following commodities, regardless of declared value or amount of insurance purchased:
    • Artwork
    • Firearms and weapons
    • Furs
    • Gold, silver and gems
    • Jewellery, pearls and watches
    • Narcotics and controlled drugs
    • Negotiable paper including:
      • Money or currency notes
      • Stocks and bonds
      • Travellers' cheques

Special handling requirements:

Handling requirements vary by class and are associated with the value of the shipment being tendered:

Class 1:

  • Minimum packaged size of all valuables must be: 30 x 30 x 30 cm (12" x 12" x 12").
  • Value handling fee applies for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the United States.
  • Valuation charges apply.

Class 2:

  • Minimum packaged size of all valuables must be: 30 x 30 x 30 cm (12" x 12" x 12").
  • Value handling fee applies for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the United States.
  • Valuation charges apply.
  • Man-to-man handling and lock-up service provided by Air Canada Cargo.

Class 3:

  • Minimum packaged size of all valuables must be: 30 x 30 x 30 cm (12" x 12" x 12").
  • Value handling fee applies for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the United States.
  • Valuation charges apply.
  • Man-to-man handling and lock-up service provided by Air Canada Cargo.
  • Advance arrangements must be made by contacting your local Air Canada Cargo office.
  • For shipments that remain on Air Canada Cargo's premises for more than three (3) hours, guard service is required at customer's expense.

Class 4:

  • Minimum packaged size of all valuables must be: 30 x 30 x 30 cm (12" x 12" x 12").
  • Value handling fee applies for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the United States.
  • Valuation charges apply.
  • Man-to-man handling and lock-up service provided by Air Canada Cargo.
  • Armed guard required at customer's expense.
  • Advance arrangements must be made by contacting your local Air Canada Cargo office 24 to 72 hours in advance.
  • Full security measures are in place.

Class 5:

  • Minimum packaged size of all valuables must be: 30 x 30 x 30 cm (12" x 12" x 12").
  • Value handling fee applies for shipments within Canada and between Canada and the United States.
  • Valuation charges apply.
  • Man-to-man handling and lock-up service provided by Air Canada Cargo.
  • Advance arrangements must be made by contacting your local Air Canada Cargo office 24 to 72 hours in advance.
  • Armed guard required at customer's expense.
  • Full security measures are in place.

Our Priority1 Service level is offered for our AC Secure Solution:

Priority1

Our premium Service level designed for time-sensitive shipments and/or shipments requiring some form of special handling.

Valuation charges and liability:

All valuable shipments are assessed a flat valuable handling fee and a valuation charge which is calculated as a percentage of the declared value for air transport.

Air Canada Cargo's liability is limited by tariffs and international agreements. This liability may be further limited if the Declared Value or Description of Goods is misrepresented or falsified by the shipper.

Points to remember!

  • All shipments must have a confirmed booking and be ready for carriage prior to acceptance.
  • To make a booking, or for pricing information, please contact your local Air Canada Cargo office.
  • Due to some aircraft types, weight, weather and regulatory restrictions, we may not be able to transport your shipment to all the destinations we serve. Contact your local Air Canada Cargo office for details.
