Air Canada Cargo is warning the public about phishing emails claiming to be from Air Canada Cargo and asking for personal information and payment for the delivery of pets ordered online. These are scams as Air Canada Cargo does not, under any circumstance, send out emails requesting payment online or via phone.
The phishing email uses what appears to be the Air Canada Cargo name and branding. It may contain a fake tracking number, state that the animal will be delivered by Air Canada Cargo and request payment. This is a scam.
Pet travel with Air Canada Cargo can only be booked directly with Air Canada Cargo or with an accredited IPATA agent. Air Canada Cargo does not offer online payment or payment by email.
If you receive an email claiming to be from Air Canada Cargo which you believe may be fraudulent, do not click on links or provide any personal information.
Should you have questions or need clarification, please reach out to our dedicated cargo agents at 1-800-398-4865 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (EST), seven days a week.
What is phishing?
Email scams (phishing) and telephone scams (vishing) are commonly used by fraudsters to trick people into giving them personal information that can then be used to try to take money out of a victim's bank account, use their credit cards or open new credit accounts.
