June 29, 2018 HS Code Required for Shipments Transiting Through China
The China customs authorities have mandated that an H.S. code is required for all shipments transiting beyond PEK and PVG.
To facilitate the transmission of the required information, we are providing a Transfer Declaration Form, which can be downloaded on our website and filled out. The completed form will be required for all shipments moving beyond PEK and PVG as of July 1.
The declarer who can best provide the information required (forwarder, shipper, consignee, for example) must fill the form out. The following information is required:
Air Waybill number
House Air Waybill number
H.S. code (authorized by China Authorities)
Commodity description (in Chinese). The description must be precise and accurate, and refer to specific items rather than categories (for example, screwdrivers rather than tools). Sample descriptions are provided below. A link is available to look up descriptions, in Chinese: https://www.customs.gov.cn/customs/302427/302442/jckszcx/index.html
Printed, signed, and attached to the master document pouch

Please note that Air Canada Cargo cannot validate required information provided by the shipper that is to be collected by the China Customs Authority. Shipments missing the required information will be delayed, and a penalty will be imposed on the consignee.
For more information, please do not hesitate to contact your local Air Canada Cargo representative, or in Canada, call 1-800-387-4865.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
