Improved cargo capacity and larger ULDs are some of the key advantages for Air Canada Cargo.
"From a cargo perspective, there are multiple benefits to the 787s, since they will replace 767s in our fleet," says Manager, Cargo Network Control Urs Wiesendanger. "We'll gain capacity with an extra pallet position, and use of LD3 containers, which are larger than the LD2 used on the 767s. We'll be working with a streamlined fleet, which is an operational advantage."
The airline will take delivery of the first of 37 Boeing 787 aircraft in the spring of 2014.
787 Cargo Quick Facts:
- Room for up to 8 pallets
- 1 pallet position in the aft cargo hold(not available in the 767)
- Cargo volume: 144.4 m3 (typical use)
