Military situation in the Middle East

Support for Canadians in the region

If you are a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada, you can sign up for the Registration of Canadians Abroad service to receive important information about the crisis, or contact the Government of Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre, available around the clock for consular assistance.

Update: March 17, 2026

The situation in the Middle East continues to evolve, so we’ve introduced a flexible booking policy so you can adjust your booking in the way that best meets your needs for your upcoming planned travel to or from Dubai and Tel Aviv.

You can also continue with your current booking as scheduled.

Here are your options:

  1. Rebook your flight to the same destination on a later date with no additional fees.
  • Simply retrieve your booking and choose an alternate travel date between September 8 and December 15, 2026, at no cost, subject to availability in the cabin you originally purchased, for flights operated by Air Canada.
  1. Rebook your travel to another destination, with no additional fees.
  • You can retrieve your booking and change to an Air Canada flight to another destination in Europe, the U.K., India, or Africa for travel between May 1 and December 15, 2026.
  1. Cancel your booking and select one of our credit options
  • AC Wallet: Aeroplan Members can use their AC Wallet to download their credit for future Air Canada travel.
  • Future Travel Credit: You’ll need to contact our Contact Centre to select a Future Travel Credit and to rebook at a later date.
  • Refunds remain subject to fare rules. More about our refund policy.

Other destinations in the Middle East

If you purchased a ticket on or before March 16, 2026, for travel of the airports listed below, you can:

  • Cancel and select one of our credit options
    • AC Wallet: Aeroplan Members can use their AC Wallet to download their credit for future Air Canada travel.
    • Future Travel Credit: You’ll need to contact our Contact Centre to select a Future Travel Credit and to rebook at a later date.
  • Travel to another Air Canada destination in Europe (including the U.K.), India or Africa between April 1and December 15, 2026

Due to the military situation in the Middle East, all flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) remain suspended. If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority.

Flights are currently cancelled as follows:

  • Dubai: until April 30, 2026, inclusive
  • Tel Aviv: until May 2, 2026, inclusive

Update: March 6, 2026

Due to the military situation in the Middle East, all flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) remain suspended. If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority.

Flights are currently cancelled as follows:

  • Dubai: until March 28, 2026, inclusive
  • Tel Aviv: until May 2, 2026, inclusive

Update: March 2, 2026

Due to the military situation in the Middle East, all flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) are currently suspended and restarting on March 23, 2026. If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority.


If your flight is affected by the suspensions

You can retrieve your booking to change your flight free of charge. If your flight is cancelled, we will contact you directly with your options.

If you choose to cancel your flight, you will receive a full refund. 

If your flight is not affected but you want to change your travel plans

If your flight to, from or via the Middle East is currently not affected but you would prefer to change your travel plans, you can make voluntary changes to your itinerary if:

  • You purchased an Air Canada ticket no later than February 28, 2026, for travel to, from or through one of the following airports between now and March 15, 2026:
    • Abu Dhabi (AUH)
    • Amman (AMM)
    • Beirut (BEY)
    • Dammam (DMM)
    • Dubai (DXB)
    • Erbil (EBL)
    • Tel Aviv (TLV)

If you’re scheduled to travel during the affected period, you can retrieve your booking to change your flight, free of charge, to another date between now and March 31, 2026, subject to availability in the cabin you originally purchased. Outside of those dates, any fare difference will apply.
