In 2020, Air Canada will launch its own frequent flyer program.

This will become the new frequent flyer program for Air Canada, replacing Aeroplan, which is separately-owned and operated by an independent company, Aimia. We are doing this because we are committed to creating a better, more rewarding experience for you.

For now, here are the most important details you need to know:

Air Canada’s agreement with Aimia for Aeroplan remains in place until June 29, 2020.  Air Canada is committed to Aeroplan as its frequent flyer program through this date.  Our goal in announcing this change three years ahead of time is to provide as much advance notice as possible.

Before the new Air Canada program launches in June 2020 you will be able to earn and redeem Aeroplan Miles for Aeroplan Rewards, including flights with Air Canada and our Star Alliance partners.

All Air Canada and Star Alliance activity after June 2020 will be earned into the new program, and you will be able to redeem miles for rewards including Air Canada and Star Alliance partner flights.

Aeroplan Miles earned up to June 2020 stay in your Aeroplan account and may be redeemed for Aeroplan Rewards. Beyond June 2020, Air Canada expects to continue making Air Canada flights available for Aeroplan redemption. Star Alliance partner rewards will only be available through the new Air Canada program.

There’s no action required from you right now. We will be communicating with our customers regularly in the months ahead as new improvements are launched, and as more details regarding the new Air Canada program take shape. If you are already an Aeroplan member, your enrolment in the new Air Canada program will be seamless. Approximately 12 months prior to launch (mid-2019), we will begin communicating the key specifics about the new Air Canada program. This will include details regarding account set-up, enrolment incentives and more.

Our new program will be inspired by you.

Over the next three years we will listen to our customers, employees and partners to create a program that better serves the way you live and travel. Along the way, we will also look to implement near-term improvements to elements of the Air Canada customer experience, which everyone can enjoy, as well as to Air Canada Altitude for our more frequent flyers.
