Where Business is Pleasure

THIS MONTH: Seoul, South Korea

Where? Suite 2821, a Club Room in The Grand InterContinental Seoul, South Korea.

What? Your room has a striped white duvet cover, a cuddly bathrobe and a view of both the neighbouring COEX (where your business meeting is probably taking place) and the Namsan mountains beyond.

Why? Work out in the mammoth third-floor gym in the morning (with a 25-metre indoor pool), then breakfast at the Tony Chi-designed club lounge on the 26th floor, with free wireless access and excellent coffee poured by an elegant model in a black tweed jacket.

The WOWfactor: Listen to live jazz and watch matchmaking meetings unfold in the lobby lounge in the late afternoon. A female matchmaker has tea with the mothers of both the young man and young woman, who then come in and join the chitchat before the elders leave. (If the intended bride is not happy, she calls her mother on her cell phone to come and rescue her.)
