Unique São Paulo
By Mary Gostelow
THIS MONTH: São Paulo, Brazil

Where? Room 709 in Hotel Unique, São Paulo. The hotel, a creation of one of Brazil's most distinguished architects, Ruy Ohtake, is shaped like a futuristic ark, complete with portholes.
What? Modern tranquility: The bed's white headboard has an inset window filled with white stones and sand. The white walls and the window screens complete the look.
Why? Prefer a splash of color? Draw open the window screen to see blue sky through a circular window, or pull up the interior partition to reveal a Jacuzzi bathtub adorned with emerald-green feathers.
The WOWfactor: Head to the rooftop and take a dip in the 24-metre-long Red Pool with underwater sound. Take some time to enjoy the view of the city.
