Travel Advisory: Flight Delays and Cancellations
TORONTO, August 1, 2012 - Air Canada advises customers to expect delays and some cancellations to flights today as it works to resume its regular schedule following disruptions to operations resulting from the closure of Toronto Pearson International Airport on Tuesday July 31 due to severe thunderstorms in the Toronto area.
Flight delays and some cancellations are expected throughout the day as the airline repositions aircraft and crews that were affected by yesterday's flight disruptions and diversions.
Customers are requested to check the status of their flight at aircanada.com before leaving for the airport.
In order to facilitate changes to travel plans, Air Canada has revised its ticketing policy for customers. Customers wishing to make alternate travel arrangements can do so without penalty, space permitting, by using Air Canada's self service rebooking tool at aircanada.com, on their mobile device, or by contacting Air Canada Reservations toll free in Canada and the U.S. at 888-247-2262; TTY: 1-800-361-8071 or Air Canada Reservations worldwide.
To avoid lengthy call centre wait times due to increased call volume, Air Canada asks customers to consult aircanada.com for the latest flight information and to use the airline's online rebooking and check-in tools.
Air Canada apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience as it works to get its customers on their way safely and as quickly as possible.
