New Travel Document Requirements

MONTREAL, June 8, 2007 - Air Canada wishes to advise passengers on all Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz flights that under the federal government's Passenger Protect program all airline passengers who appear to be 12 years of age or older will be required to present identification prior to boarding aircraft beginning June 18.

The ID requirement under the Passenger Protect program is for one piece of valid government-issued photo ID that shows name, date of birth and gender, such as a driver's licence or a passport, or two pieces of valid government-issued ID, at least one of which shows name, date of birth and gender, such as a birth certificate.

Until September 18, 2007, inclusively, an exemption requiring only one piece of government-issued ID without photo will be granted to passengers traveling domestically who appear to be between 12 and 17 years of age.
