Air Canada welcomes Continental Airlines to Star Alliance

Air Canada welcomes Continental Airlines as it joins Star Alliance on 27 October 2009, and becomes partners with both Air Canada and Aeroplan.

Air Canada customers can enjoy a seamless travel experience when taking advantage of Continentals extensive network, serving the Americas, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific via its strategic hubs in New York (Newark), Houston, Cleveland and Guam. Continental is the worlds fifth largest airline, operating over 2,700 flights everyday together with its regional affiliates Continental Express and Continental Connection.

This is great news for Aeroplan members, who can now accumulate Aeroplan Miles on flights operated by Continental, and enjoy expanded options for travel when redeeming miles for flights rewards with Continental. Whats more, mileage accumulated on Continental flights counts towards Air Canada Top Tier status. Similarly, Continental OnePass members can both earn miles which count towards Continental OnePass Elite status, and redeem their miles for flight rewards on Air Canada or Air Canada Express (operated by Jazz only) flights.

In addition, Aeroplan members who hold Air Canada Top Tier status, as well as Elite members of Continental OnePass, will enjoy Star Alliance Gold and Star Alliance Silver benefits (subject to their tier status), including a range of priority services, on both Continental and Air Canada, as well as the other 23 Star Alliance partners.
