David Legge

Senior Vice President, Operations

Dave Legge was appointed Senior Vice President, Operations in April 2009. In this role, he has overall responsibility for all aspects of safe operations throughout Air Canadas worldwide network, including system operations control, flight operations, line maintenance programs and operations planning and efficiency initiatives. He is also the airlines designated Operations Manager, responsible to the Minister of Transport for the management of the government-issued Air Operator Certificate authorizing Air Canada to conduct flight operations.

Dave was previously Vice President, Flight Operations, a position held since 2006. He was responsible for all aspects of safe flying operations across Air Canada's fleet, including oversight for all pilot hiring, training, and qualification programs, flight safety and technical programs, dispatch operations, flight operations fuel efficiency and environmental programs, as well as liaison with Transport Canada and the international regulatory agencies in the worldwide jurisdictions where Air Canada operates.

Since joining Air Canada in 1986, Dave has flown a variety of aircraft types and has held numerous management positions in Flight Operations.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Queen's University. He is currently qualified as Captain on the Boeing 777 aircraft.
