Environment
Take Action

Here are a few of the ways you can participate in Air Canada's efforts to manage our collective impact on the environment.

Offset your carbon emissions
Through our collaboration with Zerofootprint, you can calculate the cost of your share of the emissions created by your flight and purchase corresponding offsets. Find out how.

Reuse headsets
We invite you to bring your own headset on our newly refurbished aircraft to maximize your enjoyment of our entertainment system while reducing waste. But don't worry, if you should happen to forget your own headset, Air Canada has introduced complimentary, compact new headsets on all of our flights. Feel free to keep them to reuse on future flights. Learn about why our new headsets are more environmentally friendly.

Use a Mobile Boarding Pass (where available)
Air Canada has introduced paperless boarding passes for our customers who check in using their PDA (personal digital assistant, such as Blackberry or Treo) or cell phone. Air Canada's mobile check-in service has been enhanced to allow you the option of receiving an electronic boarding pass (in the form of a SMS text message), which you simply show to airport security screening personnel and Air Canada gate agents at select airports, in lieu of a paper boarding pass. Passengers with baggage to check proceed as usual to baggage drop off points prior to security screening. Air Canada's new mobile service is currently available for boarding domestic Canada flights and for departures to international (non-U.S.) destinations, including connecting flights, from 60 airports across Canada served by Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz.

Pack light
A lighter load means less fuel burn and fewer emissions. Besides, lighter baggage means easier, more comfortable travel. Consider lightweight luggage and leaving bulkier items behind.
