Security Screening Fees
As of December 31, 2012, all freight originating from Canada must be deemed secure according to the guidelines set by Transport Canada and the TSA. All freight not deemed secure must be carrier screened, and fees will apply as described below. Details can be found at http://www.aircanada.com/cargo/en/shipping/security/index.html.
From Canada to International (code XB-X)
A security screening fee of CAD 0.15 per kilogram, subject to a minimum charge of CAD 15.00, will be assessed per shipment for unsecured cargo, based on actual weight. If the initial screening is inconclusive, the customer will be responsible for the costs associated to break down and repackaging of the shipment.
Between Canada and the US (code XB-X)
A security screening fee of CAD / USD 0.15 per kilogram, subject to a minimum charge of CAD / USD 15.00, will be assessed per shipment for unsecured cargo, based on actual weight. If the initial screening is inconclusive, the customer will be responsible for the costs associated to break down and repackaging of the shipment. Shipments from Canada to the United States must have originated from a Registered Shipper and must be screened either by an Approved Participant or by the carrier.
From Canada to Canada (code XB-XD)
A security screening fee of CAD 0.15 per kilogram, subject to a minimum charge of CAD 7.50, will be assessed per shipment for unsecured cargo, based on actual weight. If the initial screening is inconclusive, the customer will be responsible for the costs associated to break down and repackaging of the shipment.
Miscellaneous Export Charges
- 3% of the advanced amount;
- Advanced charges up to $100.00 will be allowed even though the air freight weight and valuation charge is less.
- 10% of the advanced amount;
- Advanced charges for international shipments up to $130.00 will be allowed even though the air freight and valuation charge is less.
Additional Insurance - Code: IN
- No minimum charge.
- $0.30 per $100.00 of insured amount

*For shipments requiring special handling including perishables, live animals, live plants, newspaper, magazines or any type of goods which require special attention outside the general accepted norms of warehousing.
Export:
Storage charges will apply when the carrier is requested to withhold a shipment, or a piece thereof, beyond midnight of the day following the day of receipt of the shipment or when the first piece is not accompanied by an air waybill or when all pieces are not received within 24 hours of receipt of the first piece.
Import:
For regular cargo, free storage for 48 (forty-eight) hours calculated from 00:01 a.m. on the day following the day of arrival (Check-in). For Fridays arrivals, the first Saturday and national legal holiday shall be excluded in determining when free storage time expires.
For special handling cargo, free storage for 24 (twenty-four) hours calculated from 00:01 a.m. on the day following the day of arrival (Check-in).
General Charges
All House Air Waybill (HAWB) data submitted to Air Canada by EDI will be charged per HAWB.
All HAWB data that must be manually input by Air Canada will be charged per HAWB.
